dc.descriptionSierra de Vallejo, is considered a priority region for conservation, and is strongly affected by anthropogenic pressures. The inventory of birds are refers to studies in near areas. This study is a concrete contribution of the birds of the mountain chain and north of it. We considered bibliographic records and databases available on the web with records of ocurrence and specimens of scientific collections. Also we perform point counts in different localities inside the reserve. We observed a richness of 261 birds species, the family Tyrannidae is the best represented. Of the species recorded, 177 are permanent residents (31 are endemic and 15 are quasi-endemics to Mexico) and 73 are migratory; the remaining eleven records have other status. Also 43 species are in endangered categories. We include species that have not been recorded in the lists of the area and records of species expand their ranges at Nayarit. Due to the great diversity of birds observed, it is necesary to continue the research work about habitat use, abundance and monitoring, it will provides the basis for the conservation of birds of Sierra de Vallejo.es_ES
dc.description.abstractSierra de Vallejo, considerada como una región terrestre prioritaria para la conservación, se ve fuertemente afectada por presiones antropogénicas. El conocimiento de la avifauna está referido principalmente a estudios en zonas aledañas. Este estudio constituye una contribución concreta y actualizada de la avifauna de la Sierra y el norte de la misma. Se consideraron registros bibliográficos y de diferentes bases de datos con registros observacionales y de colecciones científicas disponibles en internet. Además se realizaron puntos de conteo en diferentes localidades dentro de la reserva. Se obtuvo una riqueza de 261 especies, siendo la familia Tyrannidae la mejor representada. Del total,177 especies son residentes (31 endémicas y 15 cuasiendémicas), 73 son migratorias, las once restantes tienen otro estatus de residencia; además 43 especiesse encuentran en alguna categoría de amenaza. Se incorporan algunas especies que no han sido registradas en los listados conocidos para la zona o que amplían sus áreas de distribución a Nayarit. La gran diversidad de aves observadas amerita continuar con investigaciones sobre el uso de hábitat, abundancia y monitoreo, lo que sentará las bases para la conservación de las aves de Sierra de Vallejo.es_ES
