dc.descriptionThe objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the predator Scolothrips sexmaculatus (Pergande) against Tetranychus urticae Koch. A randomized experimental design with six treatments and eight replications was used. The treatments were: 1). 20 S. sexmaculatus leaves 16-18 mites. 2). 20 S. sexmaculatus leaves with 8-10 mites. 3). 20 S. sexmaculatus leaves with 2-4 mites. 4). 16 to 18 mites per leaf (control). 5). 10 mites per leaf (control) and 6). 2-4 mites per leaf (control). The total number of mites per leaf, and the number of predators were counted. Samplings were made once a week and the sample size was 10 leaves per tree, two leaves in each cardinal point to 1.20 and 1.80 m in height and two leaves from the tree center. An analysis of variance was realized and the results indicated significant differences between treatments for the total number of mites per leaf, Pr> F is 0.0001 An ANOVA and Tukey’s test (α=0.05) were realized. The best treatment was the 20 S. sexmaculatus in leaves with 2-4 mites with an average 19.08.es_ES
dc.description.abstractEl objetivo del presente estudio fue determinar la efectividad del depredador Scolothrips sexmaculatus (Pergande) a diferentes niveles de la presa de Tetranychus urticae Koch. Se utilizó un diseño completamente al azar con seis tratamientos y ocho repeticiones. Los tratamientos evaluados fueron: 1). 20 S. sexmaculatus en hojas con 16-18 ácaros, 2). 20 S. sexmaculatus en hojas con 8-10 ácaros, 3). 20 S. sexmaculatus en hojas con 2-4 ácaros, 4). 16-18 ácaros por hoja (Testigo), 5). 10 ácaros por hoja (Testigo) y 6). 2-4 ácaros por hoja (Testigo). Se contabilizó el número total de ácaros por hoja y el número de depredadores. Los muestreos se hicieron una vez por semana y el tamaño de la muestra fue de 10 hojas por árbol, dos hojas en cada punto cardinal a 1.20 y 1.80 m de altura y dos hojas provenientes del centro del árbol. Se realizó un análisis de varianza y los resultados indicaron diferencias significativas entre los tratamientos evaluados para el número total de ácaros por hoja, la Pr>F es de 0.0001 y en la comparación de medias por Tukey (α=0.05) el mejor tratamiento fue el de 20 S. sexmaculatus en hojas con 2-4 ácaros con una media de 19.08.es_ES
