dc.description.abstractLa depresión es un trastorno frecuente que se caracteriza por la presencia de tristeza, perdida de interés o placer, sentimientos de culpa o falta de autoestima, trastornos del sueño o del apetito, sensación de cansancio y falta de concentración, la organización mundial de la salud (OMS), estima que este trastornos afecta a 350 millones de personas en el mundo y que para el año 2020 será la primera causa de ausentismo laboral y la segunda de incapacidad, después de las enfermedades cardiovasculares. Este trastorno es recurrente y reduce la actividad de las personas, produciendo importante costos económicos y sociales, considerándose dentro de las primeras causas de baja laboral. La depresión se presenta con mayor frecuencia en el sexo femenino, con una relación hombre/mujer de 1:2, principalmente durante el periodo de vida fértil, aumentando en la menarquia, final del climaterio y el periodo perinatal(considera desde la fecundación hasta los 42 días después del parto);caracterizada por la mayor susceptibilidad ala depresión en la mujer.es_ES
