dc.descriptionThe interest of the realization of the present study was to determine the prevalence of Candida albicans in the oral cavity of the infant population of the rural environment of the State of Yucatan, for which in the period between March and July of 2002 samples were taken at 366 children of the Gabino J. Vázquez elementary school, located in the municipality of Tetiz, which is a rural town located 32 kilometers west of Mérida. The samples collected were isolated in specific media such as BiGGY and Agar dextrose Sabouraud. Of the total sample, 96 children, 26.2% resulted with Candida sp. in the oral cavity, of which 36 were positive for colonization by Candida albicans.es_ES
dc.description.abstractEl interés de la realización del presente estudio, fue determinar la prevalencia de Candida albicans en la cavidad oral de la población infantil del medio rural del Estado de Yucatán, para lo que en el periodo comprendido entre marzo y julio de 2002 se tomaron muestras a 366 niños de la escuela primaria Gabino J. Vázquez, ubicada en el municipio de Tetiz, que es una población rural ubicada a 32 kilómetros al oeste de Mérida. Las muestras recolectadas fueron aisladas en medios especificos tales como BiGGY y Agar dextrosa Sabouraud. De la totalidad de la muestra, 96 niños, 26.2% resultaron con Candida sp. en la cavidad oral, de los cuales 36 resultaron positivos a la colonización por Candida albicans.es_ES
