dc.descriptionIn the literature review entitled perception and psychosocial effects of malocclusions, it is said that self-perception in the patient plays a very important role in the treatment decision, as well as in the judgement of the dental aesthetics of the professional. If a malocclusion is very visible, the aversion it can cause is greater, affecting and interfering with the patient's interest in correcting the alteration. The effects of malocclusions on quality of life are psychosocial rather than functional limitations. Malocclusions can significantly influence the perceptions of others, in their behavior and way of interacting, sometimes causing episodes of bullying. The differences between orthodontically treated and untreated people are mainly related to social-emotional aspects, such as smiling and laughing.es_ES
dc.description.abstractEn la revisión bibliográfica titulada percepción y efectos psicosociales de las maloclusiones, se dice que la autopercepción en el paciente juega un papel muy importante en la decisión del tratamiento, así como en el juicio de la estética dental del profesional. Si una maloclusión es muy visible, la aversión que puede provocar es mayor, afectando e interfiriendo en su interés por corregir la alteración. Los efectos de las maloclusiones en la calidad de vida son de tipo psicosocial, más que las limitaciones funcionales que pudiera causar. Las maloclusiones pueden influir significativamente sobre las percepciones de los demás, en su comportamiento y forma de interactuar, provocando en ocasiones episodios de bullying. Las diferencias entre personas tratadas ortodonticamente y no tratadas están relacionadas principalmente con aspectos socioemocionales, tales como sonreír y reír.es_ES
